Setting up Areas of Focus with Things 3
If you are a GTD fan, you may want to set up your Areas of Focus in Things 3 so that you may add your projects inside of them.
This is a tidy way to be able to corral all of your related projects into like areas.
While you may not want to add every GTD Horizon of Focus in Things, you may want to look at keeping the following areas in your task manager of choice. The following are examples:
- Travel and Leisure
- Health and Fitness
The way that I recommend doing this in Part II: Implementation of my book, GTD with Things 3, is to use the “Areas” feature in Things. By tapping “ New List” in the bottom of the main toolbar area, as seen here.
As I have indicated in my screenshot, I denote hierarchy by using a colon, “:”, to separate the main area of my life on the left, and the sub-area on the right of the colon. This makes it easy so that when you search using type travel or Command-F (or pulling down from the top of the screen on the iPhone) you can simply search for the main area if you are unsure of where to place your new project or to-do.
